[Solved] Transparent Background

Hi,
I have grayscale images with a white background, which I try to make Transparent (the background).
I use the Transparency tool, but it makes the whole image transparent, despite indicating the white color.
The image is in sRGB color model. I checkmark as 'Grayscale', still doesn't' work out for me.
How this should be done properly please ?

Hi Zal,
please do the following:
1) Change to RGB with Picture/Mode/RGB
2) Use the Magic Pen and click into the white area.

3) Use Picture/Alpha Channel/Create from Selection

4) Save the file as PNG to keep the alpha channel

Hi again Thorsten and very sorry for bothering,
I attached another vector graphic. I do exactly what you said to do, but few white areas on top leaves don't turn into alpha. I used the transparency tool in the tool box, adjusted tolerance, but nothing helps. These two or three white spots on the leaves that don't become alpha, can alpha be added by other means ?

Just use shift click into the white areas to add them.
