How to ignore subfolders during slideshow?

I'd like subfolders ignored during a slideshow. I thought this preference: Slideshow > Misc > Subfolder Depth set to zero would do it, but it does not. I shoot both RAW and JPG, and I organize photos with the RAW files in a subfolder within the folder of JPG files. I want the slideshow to display only the JPG files (faster than RAW), but GC displays all files within the parent folder, including those within subfolders. I'm running macOS Catalina 10.15.2, GC version 10.7.4.
