Starting 2019 March 15, the US copyright office has a new requirement for online copyright registration of photographs. In addition to the photographs themselves, a numbered list is also required containing the title and file name of each photograph. The list must be in Excel (.xls or .xlsx) or PDF format.
I really don't want to create such a list by hand for hundreds of images. It would be great to have Mac software to do this, either as part of Graphic Converter or as a stand-alone program. I just point it at a folder of images and it creates a PDF in the required format.
The title of the photograph can be the same as the photograph's file name.
All the rules are in:

Hi,
many thanks for your suggestion. That should be not too difficult for GraphicConverter. I add that to the todo list.

Re: Make file list for US copyright registration
I found yet another one of my photos infringed on a commercial web site and I am thinking I should start registering my photos with the US Copyright office. So I interested in this suggestion and wanted to second the suggestion.
If I can add my thoughts for this feature:
1) While the copyright office accepts .xls/.xlsx spreadsheets or .pdf formats, my preference would be for GC to provide the spreadsheet over the PDF version if only one output is going to be offered. This is because a spreadsheet is much easier to edit if needed to add or remove individual lines and it is then easy to generate a PDF from the spreadsheet (going the other way can sometimes require several extra steps).
2) Copyright office is now restricting registrations to a maximum of 750 photos in one application. So it might be helpful for the tool to warn the user if they are about to generate a list greater than 750 entries. But still allow it because we might want to then take the .xls file and go thought it to choose the final 750 from a larger list of files, hence 1) above asking for a spreadsheet output option.
Regards,
Patrick

Re: Make file list for US copyright registration
Hi,
the main problem is currently the writing of a valid xlsx file.
Also, which IPTC/XMP fields should be used for title of photograph, list of all group title, missing information?

Re: Make file list for US copyright registration
Hi,
I found a possible solution for writing xlsx files.
So, please forward to support@lemkesoft.de a sample set:
- three image files
- the xlsx file with the filled fields
So, I can see the matching.

An xlsx file is not required; the Copyright Office will also accept a PDF.
The title can be the base name of the file name, that is, the file name with the suffix removed. For example, if the file name is Foo.jpg, the title can be Foo. There's no need to access any other metadata.
The only other required information is the case number, which the user can supply.
Personally, I'm just looking for the absolute minimum needed to satisfy the Copyright Office. I don't use Excel.

Re: Make file list for US copyright registration
So, just one pdf for each file with the case number as a text?

Re: [Added] Make file list for US copyright registration
I'm curious. Why does Graphic Converter 11.3.3_4659 try to connect to www.copyright.gov?
