[Solved] "don't have sufficient privileges" when saving files

Using macOS Catalina, latest version. GC from Lemkesoft registered to me (not Apple Store), latest version (11.1.3). Seemingly out of the blue (perhaps w/ new release of GC?) I am having trouble saving files in my Documents hierarchy (anywhere), perhaps particularly files that originated somewhere else (e.g., downloaded from the web). I am getting the attached errors. I do seem able to save if choose one particular "wide open" (permission) folder I have. I'm trying to figure out if it's related to antivirus software (Bitdefender and Sophos), but so far I can't see a correlation—I can turn them off (so they say) and it still happens. I've searched the GC forums and found one or two similar but not same circumstances, and the suggestions don't apply to me. Thanks in advance for thoughts.

Hi,

did you give full disk permission in the system settings to GraphicConverter 11?

Hi Thorsten. Yes—sorry I should have mentioned that. GC has full disk access permissions. I am unable to save files to the Desktop, for example, from GC; I can open the exact same files in Preview and they save just fine on the Desktop, etc. Thanks.

Hmm, what happens if you download the normal version at:
https://www.lemkesoft.info/files/graphi ... r/gc11.dmg

I rechecked the save code of the Mac App Store version. It is unchanged.

Hi again. Since my last post I ran a disk check/repair (Disk Utility), rebooted, trashed current install of GC and re-downloaded (from your site in Germany) and re-installed GC, and the behavior persists.

I checked the system.log and here are some log entries mentioning GC in case that helps:

Mar 9 05:03:14 mbpr-welch AGMService[912]: ProcessPath : /Applications/GraphicConverter 11.app/Contents/MacOS/GraphicConverter 11
Mar 9 05:03:44 mbpr-welch GraphicConverter 11[10272]: assertion failed: 19D76: libxpc.dylib + 95826 [51E3E807-9133-3605-BB5F-D59ED6404ABF]: 0x89
Mar 9 05:07:28 mbpr-welch AGMService[912]: ProcessPath : /Applications/GraphicConverter 11.app/Contents/MacOS/GraphicConverter 11
Mar 9 05:07:59 mbpr-welch GraphicConverter 11[10348]: assertion failed: 19D76: libxpc.dylib + 95826 [51E3E807-9133-3605-BB5F-D59ED6404ABF]: 0x89
Mar 9 05:30:50 mbpr-welch AGMService[900]: ProcessPath : /Applications/GraphicConverter 11.app/Contents/MacOS/GraphicConverter 11
Mar 9 05:31:28 mbpr-welch GraphicConverter 11[1769]: assertion failed: 19D76: libxpc.dylib + 95826 [51E3E807-9133-3605-BB5F-D59ED6404ABF]: 0x89

The assertion failures seems to be associated with opening files in GC—I just tested several and saw the assertion failures upon opening for each I tried.

What are the file permissions on the desktop?

Curious. It works here. What happens in a different folder? What are the permissions of the files?

Did you try to click onto the gear and reset that permissions for all subfolders?

I used the Finder info window Permissions "Apply to enclosed items..." as you suggested, and no effect.

However I have noticed two things. I have a vanilla test account (for some dev work) and from that I am able to save files w/o issue.

And, back in my account, it seems that if I make a folder/directory group writable, I am able to save the file, and not (not able to save) if not (group writable).
