Face Recognition Issues

I'm using GraphicConverter 11 (App Store) in Catalina with full disk access permission turned on.
GC is not saving the face database between sessions. So when I quit and restart there is no saved face database.
If I auto-detect faces and there is a false positive that I have removed by clicking the minus button it comes back if I later try to edit the face database. (Of course everything disappears if I quit the app.)
I have been scanning slides and then using the Finder to correct their orientation. When I auto-detect faces in a group of pictures the faces are located in the wrong location on photos in portrait orientation. They are fine in landscape orientation.
