[Solved] Blur background

Post by David Knodel »

I want to select an area (a face) and blur the background. I get that this probably involves the alpha channel and maybe inverting it. Is there any guidance or tutorial on how to do this? Must be a fairly common request.
Thanks
David

I did this with layers; I copied the face into a new layer and blurred the background and merged the layers. Took a little touching up with the blur tool but since it was a small image to be used as profile icon on pages it looks ok.

Yes, that would be my suggestion, too.
