[Solved] Text shadow and gradient filter issues
I'm using Graphic Converter version 11.3 on MacOS Catalina (10.15.7).
I created an image with a smooth gradient background. I then added two words of text (black) and gave them a grey shadow. When I click off (deselect) the text, the shadow turns 100% black. This happens repeatedly, and I have had similar shadow issues in the past.
Foregoing the shadow, I saved the image as a Graphic Converter image (so I could edit it again later). Then, when I saved it as a jpeg and flattened the image, the background gradient turned a solid color. I have previously been successful with creating and saving images with gradients.
Why might these issues exist?
Thanks.

Re: Text shadow and gradient filter issues
Sorry, Thorsten. Using the beta, attempting to change the shadow color changes the text color and, when saving as a jpeg, the background gradient changes to a solid color.

Re: Text shadow and gradient filter issues
UPDATE: My image background was a gradient from blue to white. Saving to jpeg changed the white to blue. But, when I later opened the jpeg file, what had been white was now black; the gradient was now blue to black.

Please save the image with text objects into the GraphicConverter format and e-mail the file.

Re: Text shadow and gradient filter issues
Thanks for the file.
Your image has an alpha channel. This is indicated by the checkerboard pattern for the transparent parts.
The JPEG file format does not support alpha. So, the alpha channel will be flattened upon saving.
The flatten command uses the current background color for this operation. So, please set the background color to white before saving if you want a white background.

Re: Text shadow and gradient filter issues
The Apple text editor automatically set the color picker to the text color upon changing the shadow color. That cause this misbehavior. I am working on a fix.
Please use the following workaround:
1. Select the shadow color well and set the shadow color with a single click into the color picker.
2. Now set the text color

Re: Text shadow and gradient filter issues
Thanks for the info, Thorsten.
I just realized something: earlier in the week I had created a different image that required a transparent background. So I had selected that option for that image in the New file dialog box. But, when I created this recent image, I must not have noticed that "Transparent" was still selected in the New file dialog box from the previous file. Would that have caused the gradient to turn a solid color? (Prior to that earlier image, I had never before had a need to create an image with a transparent background.)

Thanks, Thorsten. Where can I find build 4630?
