[Solved] .xmp files generated on import with original file name

Post by PakkyT »

I am not sure if this is a change in GC or a setting I changed that caused this.

When I import my photos from the SD card inserted in my Mac, it uses my rename method correctly, so a file name on the SD card might be PA1234.orf and when GC imports it the file name is automatically changed to something like 2020.11.14-13.32.00.orf. All good. However lately I have noticed that after the import, GC has created an .xml file for each of the imported photos under the original file name, e.g. PA1234.xmp.

What setting did I change or did something change in GC lately?

Thank you,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

the import may create imp sidecar file if you marked one of the options shown in the attached screenshot.
All applies only to RAW files.
