[Solved] Image file icon resolution

Sorry if this has been asked before, but the board does not allow icon and resolution as search terms.

I've a lot of old jpg images whose Finder icons are the old [Leopard?] resolution. I know there is a way, perhaps in Terminal, to change this so that the thumbnails/icons show more detail. I can't find it via Google and it has also been suggested to me that GC is the solution, but I can't find it there either.

Hi Collin,

the files may contain an old low resolution custom icon in the resource fork.
So, I suggest to delete simply the resource forks of that files:

Now the Finder should display a default custom icon with a higher resolution content.

Note: Apply this feature only to JPEGs, PNGs, TIFFs, etc. image files.

Sadly it does not work for me. I'm still on Mojave so my screen is different, but in Finder with a .jpg selected I have nothing like the choices you show. And I fear even if I did I'd still have to do in on a file by file basis and I have hundreds, perhaps thousands!

My memory was that there was a batch process.

Hi Colin,

launch GraphicConverter.
Select file browse.
Select a folder with the images.
Open it.
Now you get the GraphicConverter browser.
Select the image and use the context menu.
