a. Caption under photo, in browser.
What is the caption? I would like something like a text box to quickly write a few words about some of the images.

b. Keywords. In the past I built quiet a library of keywords for my photos, but I did something (was it gc first aid?) and my keywords in the keywords box have disappeared and the default set of keywords is present. Yet, the keywords are still visible on my photos in the browser. Is there a method to import my keywords back into the keyword box?

Hi,

a) The caption is part of the IPTC/XMP standard. Also, the caption is indexed by Spotlight.
Simple use the following to edit the caption:

b) The keyword list can currently not be rebuild from the images.
I add that to the todo list.
