[Solved] save .jpg as symbol

I would like to insert .jpg-files as symbols into my drawings. I can select and save them but they do not appear when inserted into a new drawing.
Hoping i have made myself clear

You can insert image files into drawing just by drag and drop of the image file from the Finder into the image. Did you try that?
You can move the image with the hand tool.
