This is a tiny, tiny, annoyance. In Preferences > Slide Show > General More by Notch I uncheck Keep area unused. I expect this will result in the notch taking a bite out of the top of each image, but actually the entire image is displayed below the notch. Checking or unchecking "Keep area unused" has no effect.

Re: On MacBook Pro, notch always invisible
I debugged your report. The notch is ignore if you uncheck the option.
Is the option really unchecked?
Is the fullscreen display active?

In Slide Show > General More, Mode is Fullscreen. The display is the built-in MacBook Pro display. Primary Screen is Main Screen (1728 x 1117). "Keep area unused" is really unchecked.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the purpose of "Keep area unused". I see no difference if it's checked or unchecked.

Re: On MacBook Pro, notch always invisible
In Finder I did File > Get Info on GraphicConverter 11.app and saw that "Scale to fit below built-in camera" was checked. (I guess it installs that way; I didn't check it.) Unchecking "Scale to fit below built-in camera" causes "Keep area unused" to work as I expect. All good.
