Image opacity and Backgroung gadient

Hello,
I would like to know if the following is possible.

1. Create a background with linear gradient top to bottom with 2 or 3 colors.
2. Add an image on top and adjust its opacity so it blends with the background.
3. The images should be 3500x3500 px 72dpi quality.

Is all the possible with the new version and will it work on MacOs 13.3.3?

Yes:

1. Use File > New > Gradient…
You can create a gradient image with up to 10 colors.

2. Use Layer > New Layer
Select the layer in the layer palette for activation

3. Open the second image, select all and copy to the clipboard

4. Select the gradient window and paste the image from the clipboard.

5. Move it to the desired position and deselect with escape.

6. Use the opacity control in the layer palette to change the opacity.

Can the gradient be horizontal (top to bottom) instead of diagonal?

Yes, just look into the File > New > Gradient dialog:

Downloaded the demo and this is what I can not figure out.

Can I change the colors of the gradient after it has been created?
Also:
Can I enter a color by numeric (hexadecimal ie. 88ddca) value?

You have to change the colors before the creation.

Click onto a color field shows the standard Apple color picker.
Just switch to the view to enter the values:
